The Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA) has mandated all cost auditors and the concerned companies to file their Cost Audit Reports (Form - I) and Compliance Reports (Form-A) for the year 2011-12 onwards [that also includes the overdue reports relating to any previous year(s)] in the XBRL mode. The mandate was passed on May 10, 2012 through the circular number 8/2012.
The use of XBRL taxonomy has been recommended by the MCA for the purpose of filing the reports. The taxonomy for the formats (Form-I and Form- A) has been published on the MCA XBRL website ( http://www.mca.gov.in/XBRL/index.html ). The taxonomy is based on the following rules:
- Companies Cost Accounting Record Rules, 2011
- Cost Accounting Records (Telecommunication Industry) Rules 2011
- Cost Accounting Records (Petroleum Industry) Rules 2011
- Cost Accounting Records (Electricity Industry) Rules 2011
- Cost Accounting Records (Sugar Industry) Rules 2011
- Cost Accounting Records (Fertilizer Industry) Rules 2011
- Cost Accounting Records (Pharmaceutical Industry) Rules 2011
- Companies (Cost Audit Report) Rules, 2011
The filing of Cost Audit Reports and Compliance Reports in the XBRL mode is to be done after July 31, 2012, as per amendment to the above mandate by the MCA on July 29, 2012. The date for filing was June 30, 2012 previously.
The last date of filing the above reports has been extended by the MCA to December 31, 2012 without any penalty as per circular number 18/2012 dated July 26, 2012.
